Hosted by Lisa Berry, this event invites the entire LGBTQIA+ community of Memphis — She/Her’s, They/Them’s, and He/Him’s alike — to come together for a day of connection, conversation, and joy.

Meet Lisa Berry — The Visionary Behind “Queer Brunch”
Every great movement begins with a spark—and for Lisa Berry, that spark came from a heartfelt TikTok. What started as a simple video expressing her search for community and connection within the Queer community quickly evolved into something much larger.
“This event was sparked by a TikTok I posted, where I reached out in search of community—specifically within the Queer community. I was overwhelmed by the response. The video received over 2,700 views, more than 200 comments, and countless direct messages from people who were also looking for connection.” — Lisa Berry
As messages poured in, it became clear: there was a deep desire for safe, welcoming spaces outside of bars and clubs—spaces where Queer individuals could gather freely, be themselves, and celebrate who they are without fear or judgment.
That realization inspired Lisa to take action, leading to the creation of Lisa Berry Presents, a community-driven platform dedicated to partnering with local businesses to create safe, affirming, and joyful events.
From an Idea to a Movement
When Lisa began organizing the first gathering, she quickly realized that finding the right venue was crucial. After connecting with a location that reflected her vision, she shared another video—and the excitement grew even stronger.
To bring the event to life, Lisa collaborated with Kayla Collins from OUTMemphis, who was introduced to her by Raven Newbern (Event Co-Host). Kayla immediately saw the importance of the idea and even contributed her own funds to help make it happen. With the enthusiastic support of Molly Quinn (Executive Director) and Shelda Edwards (Manager of Communications) at OUTMemphis, Queer Brunch was officially in motion.
Lisa also reached out to Bre, owner of VividMomentRentals, whose creative proposal for event photo experiences perfectly matched Lisa’s vision. Bre’s team offered free digital photos for attendees and affordable printed keepsakes, helping capture the joy and energy of the day.

Building Community Through Action
What began as a search for belonging has grown into a movement of inclusion, connection, and celebration. Through Lisa Berry Presents, Lisa has created a model for what genuine community-building looks like: local partnerships, authentic experiences, and a shared vision for a better future.

Lisa now has a full lineup of events planned for the year, each one designed to connect the Queer community not just through conversation, but through experiences—featuring local entrepreneurs, creatives, and allies who believe in fostering spaces where everyone can exist safely, freely, and joyfully.

Lisa Berry’s vision for Queer Brunch and beyond is clear: to make Memphis a place where community and compassion come first, and where Queer individuals have spaces to gather, thrive, and celebrate their identities.
Her story is a reminder that connection starts with courage—and that when one person dares to ask for community, they often end up building one for everyone.
